Praised for his “graceful and attentive phrasing” by The Boston Musical Intelligencer, pianist Santiago Lomelin has won the hearts of audiences around the world.  He was the first Latino pianist to be admitted to the Horowitz Piano Competition in Kiev, Ukraine, where he won the third prize. Santiago has performed as a soloist with Mexico’s leading orchestras, including the Aguascalientes, San Luis Potosi, Yucatan, and Jalisco orchestras, most recently in July of 2019, when he performed Chopin’s Second Piano Concerto with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco. As a member of the ensemble Dulce de Trio, Santiago won a prestigious grant involving community outreach and performances around the city of Boston, culminating in a concert at the New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall. He is a prize winner at several competitions including the San Jose International Piano Competition in California and Parnassos in Monterrey, Mexico.

Santiago earned his Bachelor of Music degree from the New England Conservatory as a student of Victor Rosenbaum (with academic honors). He earned his Master of Music degree and Professional Studies degree from Mannes School of Music as a student of Pavlina Dokovska (with academic honors and as the recipient of a Steinway Award and the Marian Marcus Wahl Memorial Award). He is a doctoral candidate at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, where he studies with Vladimir Valjarević. Santiago is a passionate and dedicated music teacher and is also a faculty member at the Bronx School for Music.
