A native of Seoul, Korea Sujin Park studied at the Manhattan School of Music where she received Bachelor and Masters Degrees in cello performance and has maintained an active career as performer and teacher since graduation. A winner of the Ewha & Kyunghyang Concours, she has appeared as soloist in Seoul, Hong Kong, and New York, in chamber music concerts at the Aspen, Spoleto, and Killington festivals, and has performed with many different orchestras including the NYC Ballet, National Orchestral Association, and Connecticut Grand Opera.

Her interest in early childhood education led her to get a Certificate in Suzuki Teaching Techniques from New York’s prestigious School for Strings and she subsequently started a Suzuki cello program at New York’s PS 84, taught at the Long Island University C.W. Post College, Queensboro Community College Suzuki Program, and Bloomingdale School of Music.  She now teaches at the Lucy Moses School and the Spence School in addition to maintaining a private studio.

Her teachers include Fred Zlotkin, Gary Hoffman, Steve Kates, Channing Robbins, and Jongyoung Lee, and she has attended master classes with Zara Nelsova and Yo-Yo Ma. She performs on a cello by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini, dated 1764, and with a bow made by Pierre Simon for Jean Baptiste Vuillaume, circa 1850.

Sujin lives with her husband and daughter, a sophomore at Barnard College, on Manhattan’s west side.
