A follow-up to last season’s Party at the Gershwins, this year’s edition will be a swellegant black tie affair featuring the songs of Cole Porter. Unlike the other great songwriters of his era, who were mostly middle-class New Yorkers, Porter was from a fabulously wealthy Midwestern family. He hobnobbed with the rich and famous in New York, Venice, Paris and around the world. But his great love was songwriting, and his music and his lyrics displayed uncommon sophistication and humor. He wrote the songs for a string of Broadway musicals, including Anything Goes and Kiss Me, Kate, and his classic songs include “Night And Day,” “Don’t Fence Me In,” “In The Still of the Night” and “You’re The Top.”
