Part of the What Makes It Great? series

Hosted by Rob Kapilow and featuring the Manhattan School of Music Sinfonia

Explore the mystery surrounding Mozart’s iconic Symphony No. 40 in G Minor, one of his three final symphonies written with extraordinary speed during the summer of 1780. No one knows why or for whom Mozart wrote this important precursor piece, which connects the Classical and Romantic periods; there were no known commissions or performances. Does this intense and enigmatic symphony, one of only two he wrote in a minor key, offer clues to where Mozart would have gone had he lived?

$25 student tickets are available by phone or in person. Call the box office at 212 501 3330.
