WHAT, WHEN & WHERE
MLK, Jr. Academic Complex
122 Amsterdam Avenue (between 65th and 66th Streets)
(Upon arrival at the MLK, Jr. Complex, you will be greeted by SMS High School staff members, who will direct you to warm-up rooms on the Garden Level of the building.)
WHAT TO BRING?
At both auditions, we ask that students bring an extra copy of your music for the panel to view while you perform. Please also bring copies of your transcript, your most recent report cards, and any test scores you have as well.
WHAT TO PREPARE?
During your audition, you will be asked to:
- Play a piece (or two) that demonstrate(s) your abilities on your chosen instrument (or voice, if you are a singer).
- Sight read a short excerpt.

Take a 20-minute music theory assessment exam.
HOW DO I RESERVE A SPOT AT ONE OF THE AUDITIONS?
To register for an audition, please fill out the online SMS High School application form. After submitting the online application, you'll receive a confirmation email with the date and time of the audition.
