American cellist Miriam K. Smith is rapidly gaining recognition as an immensely talented and charismatic soloist with orchestras across the United States. Since making her concerto debut at age 8, she has performed as concert soloist with the Cincinnati Symphony, Louisville Orchestra, Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, Youngstown Symphony, Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra, Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, Hendersonville Symphony, Springfield Symphony, Columbus Indiana Philharmonic and many more. Miriam was the 2023 recipient of the MacDowell Society Artist Grant and YoungArts winner for 2024. She has performed in prestigious international competitions such as the 2025 Prague Spring Festival in the Czech Republic, 2025 Isang Yun in South Korea, and was a semi-finalist in the 2024 Naumburg Cello Competition in NYC. She was first place winner of both the American Protégé International and American Fine Arts Festival competitions. Her three acclaimed commercial release albums – Kodály and Momentum (Azica Records) and Flair (MSR Classics) are available on all streaming platforms.
