Summer Musical Theater Workshop

One of the longest-running and most popular theater camp experiences in New York City, Summer Musical Theater Workshop takes kids through the exhilarating process of rehearsing and performing in original musical plays. 

Campers gain confidence and make lifelong friends as they develop skills in acting, singing, movement and stagecraft. Working with professional directors, writers, composers and choreographers in groups of kids their own age, they participate in fun, active classes throughout the day, and experience the excitement of performing on the stage of one of New York’s major concert halls for a finale performance.

Now in its 35th year, the workshop is proud to welcome students of all ages and skill levels, where campers blossom and thrive alongside their peers, and return year after year to join their friends and create the most unforgettable memories. 

Annual registration fee may apply. Full tuition balance is due on May 1.

Sample Schedule for a group of 12-year-olds:
9:00-9:50 Singing (singing games, warm-ups, pop songs, performing as a group)
9:50-10:00 Break
10:00-10:50 Movement and Dance (floor exercises, hip hop/theater combination)
10:50-11:00 Break
11:00-11:50 Acting (improvisation, theater games, monologues)
11:50-12:30 Lunch (leave the building with parents’ permission, or eat in)
12:30-1:45 Rehearse group musical numbers and solos
1:15-1:30 Break (can go outside on playground or stay in rehearsal room)
1:30-2:15 Rehearse group dance numbers
2:15-3:15 Rehearse scene work, run-throughs, small and large groups, etc. 
3:15-3:30 Group meeting
