In this exciting workshop, students will complete original compositions and present them in readings and performances by faculty and professional ensembles. The curriculum includes in-depth listening and score analysis; guided exercises in harmony, counterpoint and compositional techniques; structures such as sonata and fugue forms; and styles such as minimalism. This class also features lectures by composers and performers drawn from New York's vibrant music scene. New pieces appear in concert at Kaufman Music Center or NYC venues including Le Poisson Rouge and Symphony Space.
